Agents of SHIELD

After seven seasons of high-octane storytelling, the series finale of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD aired in August. The final season worked as both a love letter to fans of the longest-running Marvel television show, as well as a prime example of how to bring seven years of storytelling to a head without ever comprising the quality of the show. From start to finish, Agents of SHIELD gave us some of the best female characters represented on television (particularly in the superhero genre), storylines that never felt stale, and constantly reinvented itself each season.

The final season’s overwhelming praise from critics and audiences alike solidified Agents of SHIELD as one of the greatest comic book television series of all time.

The final season saw our lovable misfit team of agents travel through time in an effort to preserve the very existence of SHIELD history, with several nods given to the past seasons of the show, as well as to the events of the greater MCU. In the two-part series finale, we also see the team utilize the Quantum Realm, much like the Avengers did in Avengers: Endgame, in an effort to save the world one last time. Fitting happy endings were handed out to the chosen family of characters we had grown to love over the course of seven seasons, while also leaving the possibility of a continuation of their story–looking at you Secret Invasion.
