Rachel McAdams returning for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
By Shaun Stacy
Rachel McAdams is slated to return to the MCU in the sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Dr. Christine Palmer, played by Rachel McAdams, will be making her return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the Doctor Strange sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
In the 2016 film, Christine was a friend and colleague of Dr. Stephen Strange before he had his car accident. In fact, she was one of the doctors who saved both his life and the use of his hands. Since there had been no mention of McAdams’ return when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was announced last year, some fans wondered if she would go the way of Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster in Thor: Ragnarok.
However, it appears as though McAdams will indeed be returning for the sequel, along with Benedict Wong and Chiwetel Ejiofor, reprising their roles as Wong and Mordo, respectively.
There has been little in the way of details revealed about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, though we do know that Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff will play an integral part of the movie. Obviously, by the title, we will be dealing with the intricacies of alternate dimensions throughout the multiverse. Early reports have indicated that the events that occur in WandaVision will have direct ramifications in the second Doctor Strange film.
In the comic books, Christine Palmer is one of many heroines who assume the moniker of Night Nurse, like Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple, who is a nurse who aids superheroes when they get hurt in fights or need other medical attention.
The version of Christine Palmer in the first Doctor Strange was a doctor and, aside from her friendship and work relationship with Stephen Strange, wasn’t that much involved in the overall arc of the film. Here’s hoping the MCU will put McAdams’ talent to better use this time around.
