Amber Midthunder

Where you know her from: Banshee, Legion, and Roswell, New Mexico

Best known for her series regular roles in hit shows like FX’s Legion and The CW’s Roswell, New Mexico, Amber Midthunder has been acting steadily for the past decade. She’s also had supporting roles in multiple films, such as 2016’s Hell or High Water and 2018’s She’s Missing, which premiered at the Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival.

Since landing the role of Kerry Loudermilk 2017’s Legion, Amber has already dabbled in MCU-adjacent projects, but she was really able to showcase her dramatic acting skills in the role of Rosa Ortecho on The CW’s successful Roswell reboot, Roswell, New Mexico. Rosa is the troubled sister of Liz Ortecho, who is struggling with being recently resurrected (along with dealing with a substance abuse problem and new alien powers on top of everything else).

With the recent news that the character Echo will be featured in the upcoming Hawkeye Disney+ series, Amber’s background would certainly come in handy as the deaf superheroine with photographic reflexes. In the comic books, Echo was a supporting character in Daredevil’s ongoing series, but eventually stood on her own and even became a member of the Avengers at one point.

As one of the few deaf comic book characters, Echo’s story is an important one that needs to be told in a respectful way. Amber has demonstrated her ability to give emotional, nuanced performances, leaving no doubt that she would be able to portray the complex character of Echo with ease.
