Tina Desai

Where you know her from: The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel franchise andSense8

Tina Desai is an Indian actress and model, who landed her first big English language project in 2011’s The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel comedy film and also returned for its 2015 sequel, The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. However, her role as Kala Dandekar in Netflix’s Sense8 is considered her American breakout performance.

As Kala, Tina portrayed the caretaker of the group, which included seven other strangers who all found themselves telepathically linked to one another. Kala was involved with one of the most popular (and polarizing) romances of the series with the character of Wolfgang, played by German actor Max Riemelt. She also lent her voice to the character of Ashima in the Thomas & Friends film and television series. Although she has a degree in Business Management with a concentration in finance, she’s clearly been bitten by the acting bug.

With the inevitable reboot of the X-Men coming to the MCU, we’re predicting the team will be comprised of a couple of classic characters and newer, lesser-known characters that have yet to appear in any live-action project. The X-Men character Trinary is a fairly recent addition to the team, debuting in 2018’s X-Men: Red, which saw a newly resurrected Jean Grey form a new team of mutants to defend Professor X’s dream.

As a technopath, Trinary has the ability to psychically control all forms of technology, like computers, cell phones, and even robot Sentinels, though she can only control technology that is in her line of sight. In India, Trinary used her powers to transfer money from the twenty-five highest-earning CEO’s in the country to the bank account of every working Indian woman. Her background and abilities would be a great way to help modernize the classic X-Men story, and Desai would be perfect as this imperfect hero.
