In celebration of her album, Positions, we look back at Ariana Grande’s 15 best songs so far.
When Ariana Grande embarked on a music career, fresh off her tenure as an actress in Nickelodeon’s Victorious and Sam & Cat, success was not assured. The history of popular music is littered with teenage stars trying their hands at music careers, lacking the talent and savviness to pull it off.
Yet in the seven years since Ariana Grande’s debut record, she has become one of the best and biggest pop stars in the world. Powered by a remarkable and versatile voice, and aided by many of the top producers working today, Grande has put together a very solid body of work since the release of her first record seven years ago. With her latest album, Positions, being released earlier this month, we are looking back at her and selecting the best 15 songs of her career so far, from the chart-topping singles to the lesser-known album cuts.
15 best Ariana Grande songs
15. “Be My Baby”
Naming a song “Be My Baby” is a bit of a silly thing to do — you’re not going to beat the Ronettes at their own game here. But while Grande’s song is not on the short list of the best pop songs ever recorded, it is an extremely infectious one whose lack of overt ambition is made up for with pure craftsmanship and a melody that is likely to remain in your head for a long while each time you listen to it.
