American Horror Story: Coven
Though the season itself has its share of narrative problems and it doesn’t really stick the landing in the finale, Coven remains a fan-favorite AHS installment. And with good reason: It’s a blast to watch.
The story of a school for witches in New Orleans, Coven sports an almost entirely female cast and certainly has the show’s most campy, meme-able – and memorable – dark comedy feel. From bitchy teen witch Madison Montgomery and the savage Supreme Fiona Goode to voodoo queen Marie Laveau and resurrected murderess Delphine Lalaurie, this is a season fueled by a variety of powerful women. And in a genre where women are too often present solely to be victims, Coven feels like a breath of fresh air.
Also, it’s got an episode that features Stevie Nicks, and honestly, I can’t ask for a lot more than that.
