Final season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina conjures a December release date

Head back to Greendale one last time this holiday season – Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 4 will arrive on Netflix in December.

Consider it an early Halloween present: Netflix has announced the premiere date for the final season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. 

Known simply as “Part 4”,  the last batch of episodes will officially drop on December 31, 2020.

The teaser doesn’t give away much in terms of story, but its generally chaotic vibe certainly indicates that anything could happen as the story barrels toward its end.

Of course, how satisfying an ending that will ultimately be is still up in the air. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was canceled earlier this year, along with fellow Archie-verse series Katy Keene. Whether the news came down in time for the show to craft a proper ending is kind of up in the air. (And I don’t know about you, but it certainly seemed as though Sabrina fully planned to continue beyond what is essentially two full seasons  in four “parts”.)

Yet, the official Netflix synopsis for Part 4 sounds like we could be in for some closure, of a sort. Or possibly the end of the world. Maybe both?

"Chilling Adventures of Sabrina reimagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult, and, of course, witchcraft.Over the course of Part 4’s eight episodes, The Eldritch Terrors will descend upon Greendale. The coven must fight each terrifying threat one by one (The Weird, The Returned, The Darkness, to name a few), all leading up to… The Void, which is the End of All Things. As the witches wage war, with the help of The Fright Club, Nick begins to slowly earn his way back into Sabrina’s heart, but will it be too late?"

All the main cast are back for the series’ final run, including Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina, Miranda Otto as Zelda, Ross Lynch as Harvey, Lucy Davis as Hilda, Chance Perdomo as Ambrose, Michelle Gomez as Ms. Wardwell, Jaz Sinclair as Roz, Lachlan Watson as Theo, Gavin Leatherwood as Nick, Tati Gabrielle as Prudence, Adeline Rudolph as Agatha, Abigail Cowen as Dorcas and Richard Coyle as Father Blackwood, among others.
