Netflix’s cancellation of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina feels like a bad sign for Riverdale.

It’s been a very bad week for Riverdale and the Archie-verse. In fact, it’s been downright depressing. Not only did the spin-off series, Katy Keene, get canceled by The CW, but now Netflix has officially pulled the plug on The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

According to TVLine, Netflix has canceled the series following the upcoming fourth part, which is set to begin streaming later in 2020. Perhaps the worst part of the announcement was the fact that we actually got new images from Sabrina’s fourth act, even as we learned that it will be its final act.

However, this news also feels like a nail in the coffin for Riverdale and the Archie-verse the series kicked off. Considering Riverdale has lost Skeet Ulrich and Marisol Nichols has chosen to only come back as more of a recurring character, it was already looking like the end was near for the original show in the Archie-verse.

Now That Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is Canceled, Is Riverdale next?

As we mourn the loss of both Katy Keene and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, we can’t help but worry about this means for not just Riverdale‘s future, but other stories that could have been told in the Archie-verse. Considering how many comics there actually are in the original Archie universe, we had hopes that we might see even more original content popping up on our TVs. And now it looks like we may not have any.

Whether you love Riverdale or not, it is still a fun show with an excellent cast. And the same could be said for The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, which feels like it was canceled too soon.

The Archie-verse seems to be on its way out, and we can’t help but feel sad and disappointed. There were so many more stories that could have been told. And now we are left with reruns and a dim hope that the Archie-verse will continue to grow.
