The show’s host & judges

The show includes an eclectic cast and it works. Across the judges’ table, there is the “Blurred Lines” singer Robin Thicke and Nicole Scherzinger, former lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls. With those musicians, toss in comedian and doctor Ken Jeong with model and actress Jenny McCarthy.

These four are spontaneous, have the 411 on all things celebrity and they each have their pockets of knowledge to help the viewers at home narrow down their pool of guesses. Well, other than Jeong who throws out the most outrageous guesses but every now and again he may get one right.

Amongst these folks, there is the former Nickelodeon star, actor, and television personality Nick Cannon. Cannon’s personality is perfect for the show as he taps into his comedic and musical talents. The comedian also taps into his stardom as he’s a celebrity that seems to know everyone in Hollywood.

The group is very diverse in terms of their professions and backgrounds which creates a special tandem. Most importantly, their authenticity truly makes them a great team. Collectively, they have a special chemistry and it really defies the format of so many reality shows before them. There are no villains at their table. There is no one trying to be American Idol’s Simon Cowell or Dancing with the Stars’ Len Goodman, in layman’s terms, the straight-shooting hater judge. They each come as themselves and root for each performer like the viewers at home. And after each performance, the judges’ friendly competition amongst themselves trying to play detective to be the one who cracks the case.

In large, The Masked Singer’s celebrity appeal, vibe, and its core cast are the ingredients that make this program today’s greatest reality competition show on prime time television.
