DC’s Stargirl – now airing on The CW and DC Universe – has quietly turned out to be the best superhero series of the year. Here’s why you need to watch it.

DC’s Stargirl is groundbreaking in a number of ways. It’ s the first teen-focused superhero series in the DC TV universe, and it’s the first collaboration between DC’s premium streaming service and the television network The CW. (Though that will change when the drama returns for its second season next year.) And it’s also one of the best superhero shows on the air – anywhere – currently.

The series is currently racing to the conclusion of its first season, and even though that will only encompass a dozen episodes in total, it’s managed to tell us a story that’s been both emotional and exciting to watch, with great characters and plenty of unexpected twists. So if you’ve been sleeping on Stargirl, that definitely needs to change.
