Good news, Stargirl fans: The hit DC TV series has been renewed for a second season, and it will be moving exclusively to The CW.

When it comes to DC TV seriesStargirl has absolutely blown fans away with its first season, proving that not all CW shows need a 20-plus-episode run in order to find their footing. And unsurprisingly, given how well received its been by fans and critics, the series has officially been renewed for a second season.

But there’s more: Not only will Stargirl be returning, but, starting with season two, The CW will become its exclusive home. Although the episodes from the first season would stream on the DC Universe platform prior to airing on The CW, the new ones will debut on The CW, much like Arrow, The Flash, and Black Lightning.

Given that the show is still working its way through its first season on DC Universe, however, it’s unclear if it will remain separated once season one is through. If so, viewers may want to catch up on those early episodes now.

Of course, Stargirl isn’t the only DC series that’s jumped ship recently. Doom Patrol was also moved to HBO Max, leaving Titans as the only series currently exclusive to the DC Universe platform. Whether more will join it remains to be seen, but one has to wonder why the franchise would bother with its own streaming service if it wasn’t going to feature exclusive works.

Still, there’s no doubt Stargirl joining the ranks of the other CW exclusives is a good thing. For one, the series finally offers Arrowverse fans a teenage superhero story, and it’s easier for the show’s younger audience to tune in on a Cable network.

As for when we’ll see season two, that’s anyone’s guess, especially with all the COVID-19 production delays. With every Arrowverse show pushed back to January 2021 at the earliest, it’s safe to say we’ll be waiting some time to see Courtney’s story continue. (But, hey, at least we still have new episodes to enjoy in the meantime.)
