This week’s episode of The 100 will serve as the backdoor pilot for the series’ potential prequel — and will show fans how the world ended the first time.
Fans of The 100 have witnessed the end of the world more than once by now, but the seventh season is about to take us all the way back to the first apocalypse with “Anaconda,” which will serve as the backdoor pilot for the possible prequel series to The 100. The spin-off has yet to be officially greenlit by The CW, but the response to tonight’s episode may sway the network one way or the other.
Last week’s episode saw Clarke and her friends finally making it to Bardo, where they learned of Bellamy’s fate. More surprising, though, was the reveal that Bill Cadogan, Becca’s enemy and the leader of the Second Dawn, is still around — and that he’s apparently also the leader of the Disciples.
The promo for this week’s installment shows Cadogan and Clarke coming face to face, but the interaction quickly turns into Cadogan remembering his story and how he got here.

And as Cadogan reflects on his story, fans get to see the first apocalypse unfold, with Becca and a whole new group of characters making the same types of difficult decisions that the cast of The 100 has often been forced to make. It’s hard to say exactly what will go down given that fans know little about these new faces — but “Anaconda” looks as dramatic and action-packed as any other episode of The 100, and that’s a promising start.
Anyone interested in seeing The CW pick up a prequel spin-off for The 100 will definitely want to check out this backdoor pilot, which will give us insight into the events of this season and everything that took place before the show.
