Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD left Mack and Deke stranded in 1983. They’re going to need to make the best of the situation until they’re reunited with the team

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD has been having so much fun with its decade-defined episodes. Every single one has been eye-popping, to say the least.

We’ve seen the 1930s, the 1950s, and the 1970s. Which brings us to the eclectic 1980s. And I think this is going to be one fun episode.

In case you missed it, the official synopsis for this week’s installment describes the story as follows.

"“After being unexpectedly stranded in 1982, Mack retreats to his childhood home to process the death of his parents, while Deke gets to work scouting a chart-topping group of new agents. With no idea if or when the team is coming back for them, time seems to finally be on their side … at least until the killer robots show up.”"

The episodes where Agents of SHIELD‘s stories can breathe are some of their better ones. Having only Mack and Deke in this episode (most likely) should give us something hilarious and top-notch. Plus we know how much Mack loves his 1980s films. Being able to live them all over again may help bring him around faster.

MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. – “Alien Commies from the Future!” – A surprise leap forward in time has stranded Enoch in 1931 and landed the team in yet another unfamiliar decade. Now, in order to stop the chronicoms from launching their newest future-dismantling plan, the agents will have to infiltrate one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s most secure bases. They won’t be able to succeed without help from a familiar face or two on an all-new episode of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” airing WEDNESDAY, JUNE 10 (10:00 – 11:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC. – (ABC/Mitch Haaseth)HENRY SIMMONS /

That being said, we could still see a split episode where we see whenever the rest of the SHIELD team went. But if the show was smart, they’d keep us rooted in the 1980s for most of it and leave the reveal of the rest of the SHIELD team until the post-credits stinger.

Brace yourselves for maximum 1980s-ness! And let’s be excellent to each other.
