9 sister acts we love to watch on television in 2020

Matilda and Genevieve, Everything’s Gonna Be Okay
This comedic gem on Freeform flew under the radar for most of the 2019-20 television season, despite rave reviews. Everything’s Gonna Be Okay centers on a blended family coming together following the death of their father. Josh Thomas plays Nicholas, a neurotic, gay entomologist who finds himself suddenly caring for his two younger half-sisters, Matilda (Kayla Cromer) and Genevieve (Maeve Press). Naturally, hilarity and chaos ensue.
Despite their age, both Matilda and Genevieve are truly capable young women in their own right. Matilda is whip-smart, forthright, and autistic, but she also struggles with finding her own independence and figuring out her sexuality. Genevieve is protective of her older sister, but has difficulty standing up for herself sometimes, and is delightfully awkward.
This show may put a modern spin on the family sitcom, but its clear that these two sisters love each other unconditionally.
