July brings about the 10th anniversary of PlayStation Plus! Members can expect this month’s offerings to be top of the line. Let’s check it out.

Rejoice, PlayStation Plus members! You’ve had 10 years of Sony’s free games program! That seems incredible and amazing and a good cause for celebration.

Here are your two free games for the month of July:

  • NBA 2K20
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider

Actually, there’s a bonus offering of Erica! Here’s the official announcement trailer from PlayStation Access:

If you’re an avid sports fan and dying for any sport in any form, then NBA 2K20 is right up your alley (and you don’t have to suffer the sheer chaos of being an NHL fan like me). The latest NBA installment offers one of the best on-court gameplays in recent years. We saw a preview for the next iteration, coming to the PlayStation 5, but until then, 2K20 should tide fans over.

And fill that void in your heart of missing sports in general.

The other big offering is Rise of the Tomb Raider, which is hailed as the best Tomb Raider of this last relaunch. It’s the sequel to the 2013 Tomb Raider and it’s one of the more gorgeous games of the last decade.

Seriously, if you’re burned out on Naughty Dog and don’t want to replay Uncharted, pick up Rise of the Tomb Raider instead. The puzzles are fantastic, the combat is solid, and it’s just an all-around fun adventure.

Lastly — and as a fun bonus! — we have Erica. It’s an FMV game (full-motion video game) that lets you choose your own adventure. Really, it’s almost like watching an interactive movie. The gameplay itself is only two hours. You play as Erica, who’s trying to solve a traumatizing mystery from years ago.

If you’ve never played an FMV game before, Erica is a good place to start. Especially since it’s only a few hours long and you don’t have to put too much time into it.

PlayStation Plus’s offerings for their 10th anniversary are pretty solid and should make most Plus members happy.
