Sony finally offered up a showcase reveal of the PlayStation 5, including all of the games you can expect to play after the system launches.

Gamers have been craving any sort of updates regarding the PlayStation 5, and quarantine certainly hasn’t helped matters.

Thankfully, Sony gave us an entertaining showcase on June 11, revealing the look of the new system, some specs, and plenty of games coming along with it.

One of the last things in the hour-long presentation was the first official look at the PlayStation 5 itself. It’s wavy, vertical, and has already generated plenty of memes:

However, there are two different versions: the standard version and a digital version (this one sans CD drive).

But, more importantly, we also have new intel about the games. And Sony revealed some big ones. Maybe not some that people hoped for, but enough to get gamers excited.

First up was the next Spider-Man. Specifically, Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Which is incredibly exciting, as the first Spider-Man game was a breath of fresh air. This one comes with a release date of Holiday 2020, meaning the PS5 should be out before the end of the year.

The one that had my husband excited — and me initially thinking it was a new Uncharted game with how it started — is Horizon: Forbidden West, the sequel to Horizon: Zero Dawn. Anything that gives the world more Ashly Burch is a positive in my book.

We also saw our first look at a new Ratchet and Clank, titled Rift Apart, which involves different dimensions … and alternate-dimension versions of the title characters.

Other highlights include Gran Turismo 7, which looks absolutely gorgeous, Square Enix’s next outing called Project Athia, a quick look at Hitman III, and a solid look at Resident Evil Village, the eighth main installment in the series and first original addition since 2017’s Biohazard.

Another announcement that had my husband excited was for Demon’s Souls, a PS5 remake of the original game that started the Souls series. You may want to buy an extra controller in case you break it out of frustration.

Sony also did a good job of highlighting some of the indie games that will be available on the PlayStation 5. This includes Bugsnax, whose song was stuck in my head for the rest of the day, Goodbye Volcano High, Jett: The Far Shore, Kena: Bridge of Spies, Little Devil Inside, Oddworld: Soulstorm, The Pathless, Stray (the one with the cat wearing the backpack!), and Solar Ash.

Of course, they still haven’t revealed a release date or a price tag, simply saying later this year. An educated guess would be sometime during Q4, most likely in October. Which means keep your eyes open for some good PS4 discounts around Black Friday.

This isn’t even everything Sony announced during the showcase. The expanded Grand Theft Auto V, Ghostwire: Tokyo, Godfall… there’s plenty to get excited about. We’ll just have to stay tuned and see what exactly Sony announces next.
