Party of Two, the fifth book in Jasmine Guillory‘s The Wedding Date series, follows Olivia Munro, LA’s latest arrival looking to start her own law firm. That’s where she intends to concentrate her focus, not dating. Junior senator Max Powell has other ideas.
After the two hit it off at a hotel bar, Max shows his intent via a message on a chocolate cake sent to Olivia’s office. Wooed by the sweet gesture, Olivia decides to give Max a chance. She’s not interested in dating a politician, but she is interested in Max, even if that means they have to see each other secretly.
Secrets, however, can’t stay secrets for long, and once the pair takes their relationship public, a connection that was private gets put under the microscope. Nothing is off limits. Not Olivia’s past, her job, or her suitability as a girlfriend. There’s also the fact that Olivia is Black and Max is white.
With the intense scrutiny their relationship is under, Olivia doesn’t know if she and Max can make it under the pressure. But she does know that what she has with Max is special, and she hopes it’s strong enough to stand the media frenzy they’re engulfed in.
