Fashion Friday: CUSHNIE is a Black-owned luxury brand that’s about to drop a collection at Target

Fashion Friday gives the spotlight to CUSHNIE this week, a Black-owned luxury brand that’s heading to Target soon.

While you may not be familiar with every designer to have a luxury line walking a red carpet, you may want to remember the name CUSHNIE. Not only is this luxury brand a Black-owned company, but they are getting ready to drop an affordable, must-have collection at Target.

In a spotlight on Black-owned companies done by People Magazine, they did a round-up of brands we should all learn more about, with CUSHNIE making the list under fashion. And once I did a bit more digging, I realized that this was a brand that had to be our feature for Fashion Friday.

Carly Cushnie is a designer with a vision. Not only does she create looks that are sleek and sculptural, but they are perfect for everything from high-fashion, black-tie events, to a more sedate night out.

CUSHNIE Is Heading to Target

Over the years, Cushnie has made it clear that she believes Black voices need to be better represented and amplified. In an interview with Business of Fashion, the designer stated, “The Black community needs mentorships, internships, and development programs early on as this industry is so far out of reach for many Black people.”

And while you may think that having a luxury label might keep her designs out of the reach of a lot of people, that changes on June 6.

On June 6, CUSHNIE is heading to Target, with a collection of ready-to-wear designs that are fashion-forward and affordable. This limited-edition collection of dresses will be available at select Target stores, as well as on the company’s website, so if you want to snag a gorgeous piece of red-carpet-ready fashion, now is the time.

The silhouettes that Cushnie creates are timeless, and perfect for every woman. And the fact that there are pieces in stunning colors, as well as some more neutral options means that there really is something for everyone.

While her launch may not be exactly what she expected, hopefully her fans and those of us who truly love fashion will head out to Target (or jump online) as soon as this collection drops and snag the pieces that speak to us.
