May we meet again: The 100’s season 7 trailer promises the series will go out with a bang
The trailer for the final season of The 100 is here, and it promises the series will go out with a bang (and possibly the human race with it).
The wait is finally over. The full-length trailer for the final season of The 100 — which premieres in a little over 10 days — has arrived, and it promises the series will go out with a bang. Calling back to the struggles of previous seasons while also tackling the mystery of the Anomaly, the extended look at the season teases a tough road ahead for our characters — and one that may not hold the happy ending so many of them deserve.
Fittingly, the trailer opens with a farewell. It seems Clarke is finally grieving the loss of her mother after the nonstop action at the tail end of season six, and her promise to make Abby proud already has us amped up to see more of Eliza Taylor’s stellar acting this season.

From there, the trailer segues into some actual good news: It appears Octavia Blake isn’t dead after all. Unfortunately, if Bob Morley’s emotional performance as Bellamy is anything to go by, her brother may not know that. And from the looks of it, Octavia’s trapped wherever Diyoza and her daughter are — and being guilted into remaining there.
With exciting new footage and a few flashbacks to iconic moments from the earlier seasons of the show, The 100’s new trailer lays out two main storylines that will have fans eager to return to this world one last time. (Well, until the spin-off comes along anyway.)
‘New World, Same Problems’
Despite the suspenseful — and original — storyline surrounding the Anomaly, it seems that The 100 will spend much of its final season on the us vs. them theme of survival that the show is built on. We wouldn’t expect anything less, but the focus on continued war does suggest that Monty’s last wish might not come true after all — and it looks like Clarke may not get the ending many fans would like for her either.
If there’s one thing that’s clear from the new trailer, it’s that Clarke is on a quest for revenge against Russell Prime. The anger behind this is no doubt fueled by what the Primes did to her family, but her passionate speech about being “the last of the human race” and Russell dying for his mistakes shows a side of her we haven’t seen in some time — and maybe not ever.
As usual, Bellamy and Raven seem to be the voices of reason in this conquest, posing the question of when it all ends and suggesting that any errors on Clarke’s part could mean the end of their people. We’ve seen this back and forth before, but it’ll be interesting to see what Clarke’s final decision is — especially since that decision will determine how her character is viewed with finality after the show comes to a close.
What Is the Anomaly?
Although the trailer doesn’t focus too heavily on the mystery of the Anomaly that swallowed Octavia and Diyoza, there are a few hints about its storyline and what it could mean for the characters. Raven’s suggestion that the Anomaly is a “wormhole” is a conclusion many fans had already come to, though how this will impact the plot remains to be seen.
In the brief moments discussing the Anomaly, it looks like the gang is gearing up to venture into it, which means we could see some type of time-travel subplot, something that could open a whole realm of possibilities for the team — but also leaves the show vulnerable to many of the plot holes that tend to accompany time travel.
There’s also some discussion of Bellamy sacrificing himself to save Octavia, which sparks new questions and hints that there will be at least one loss to mourn at the end of the series. We’d love to see both the Blakes get happy endings, but that’s looking less and less likely. Unless, of course, the team finds a way to use the Anamoly to undo past events. (Can they? Would we even want them to?)
There’s plenty up in the air going into The 100‘s final run, but fans don’t have long to wait before getting some answers. The group’s last journey begins on May 20, and we’ll be uttering “May we need again” to the series finale before we know it.
The premiere of The 100‘s final season airs on The CW on May 20 at 8 p.m. ET.
