Curl up in a chair, crack open a window, and escape into a late April romance book release as spring stretches further into its season.

States across the U.S. have encouraged — or in some cases ordered — residents to stay inside until the current health crisis calms down. In some places, businesses have closed unless they’re essential, and while others are working remotely, or helping their children with their online work, or both, some have found themselves with more time on their hands than they’re used to.

But the common experience, across the board, seems to be a need to escape. Whether that’s by watching comforting television shows or turning to a good fantasy novel, everyone needs a way to let their minds wander to other worlds than our own.

And romance novels can offer just as compelling an escape as fantasy tomes, especially for those looking for stories a bit more likely to have a happy ending — or for those missing the real world, longing for everything from restaurants to movie dates.

Not sure where to start when it comes to romance books? For late April, we suggest digging into the newest releases from Alisha Rai, Jennifer Dugan, Eric Jerome Dickey, and Kelly Siskind.
