Are we getting the Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy romance we’re all waiting for? The director of Birds of Prey wants to make it happen. Here’s what we know.

A romance between Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy has been something that’s been talked about on social media for years. It’s also been brought up as something that could (should) be in a movie about Harley Quinn, but it has yet to become a reality. Could that change now? According to the director of Birds of Prey, it’s a definite possibility in a sequel

According to Slashfilm, in an interview with the Wrap, Catherine Yen said

"“I would love to see Poison Ivy and I would certainly love to see the relationship between Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy.”"

I and probably thousands of other people would love to see this to happen. Poison Ivy has been my favorite Batman villain for decades and she needs to have her story told on screen. Also, superhero movies need gay representation like yesterday.

Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy are a match made in heaven. Two empowered women out to get the respect they deserve? Yes, please. I beg you, film gods! Make this happen!

It’s already going to happen in the second season of the Harley Quinn animated series, so why not have it in a film that continues her journey? We need it like air! And as made apparent by the brilliance that is Birds of Prey, Catherine Yen is the perfect person to make it happen.

A sequel is not yet confirmed, but hopefully, after production of movies and TV shows starts again, this can become a real thing instead of something saved for the animated shows and fan fiction.

The box office may have not been what was expected, but that doesn’t mean a sequel is out of the question. Many sequels have been made that no one asked for.

Additionally, the chance for a gay relationship between two strong women ready to beat the crap out of anyone who tries to stop them is the kind of content we all need. Thelma and Louise but in a relationship? We deserve this!
