Birds of Prey outdid both Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman with its first-day presales, becoming the third biggest DCEU movie in terms of presale tickets.

The highly anticipated Birds of Prey (And the Fabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) finally hits theaters this week — and its ticket presales have already proved just how excited many DC fans are to see this movie. According to Screen Rant, a recent report from Atom Tickets showed that Birds of Prey outdid both Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman on the first day of presale tickets being available.

Not only does this suggest fans are more interested in Harley Quinn’s story than the male-led Suicide Squad gang, but it means they might be even more excited about Birds of Prey than Wonder Woman (though, to be fair, no one expected Wonder Woman to be the masterpiece it was prior to it hitting theaters and proving the DCEU does, in fact, make some pretty decent movies.)

In addition to soaring past Suicide Squad and Wonder WomanBirds of Prey also landed among the top three DCEU movies when it comes to ticket presales, securing third place behind Aquaman as number two and Joker as number one.

To see so much hype over an R-rated, female-led DCEU film written and directed by women is refreshing, especially for those who have been demanding more inclusion in the comic-movie genre over the years. And it’s not just the ticket presales suggesting the film lives up to all the excitement; the first reviews of the movie have been overwhelmingly positive, with some critics going as far as to compare it to Marvel’s Deadpool.

With such high praise, it’s no wonder fans are eager to get tickets for Harley Quinn’s latest adventure. Birds of Prey will follow Harley and her girl gang of Black Canary, Huntress, and  Renee Montoya as they go up against the villain Black Mask. With Ewan McGregor tackling the role of the villain, and talent like Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Rosie Perez making up Harley’s gal pals, fans are in for a film packed with great acting, if nothing else — and judging by reactions, there’s plenty more to enjoy about this.
