Grey’s Anatomy season 16 episode 20 live stream: Watch online
By Meg Dowell
This week’s Grey’s Anatomy episode will intensify the anxiety and heartbreak felt last week when we learned Richard Webber was suffering.
Denial is a dangerous thing. Even when we know there’s something not quite right going on inside of us, it often takes another human — or a tragedy — to force us to realize we can’t ignore what’s happening to us.
Grey’s Anatomy’s Richard Webber has known for a while that something was wrong. But even though he resigned his position as a surgeon, he continued on with his research and his teaching. Perhaps he hoped his condition would progress slowly, that he still had time to do the things that mattered most before it all came crashing down.
He couldn’t have known — none of us could have — that the presentation that could have truly put him on the map would be the beginning of his rapid decline.
Now it’s up to his Grey’s colleagues and friends to not only figure out what all his symptoms mean, but also the best way to treat them. Can they set aside their personal feelings long enough to do whatever needs to be done?
Is it his liver — are Meredith’s years of research finally going to pay off? Is it his brain — is Amelia’s expertise going to mean the difference between life and death for him? We don’t know. And whether we find out before the unexpected end of Season 16 is still a mystery, at least for now.
Fingers crossed that whatever it is, the combined knowledge of Seattle’s finest doctors and their love for Richard Webber will lead to the best possible outcome.
And if this really is the beginning of the end for Richard Webber, let’s hope it’s an ending worth remembering.
