Travel Tuesday: 5 Universal Orlando gems begging to be rediscovered
As everyone eagerly awaits the reopening of Universal Orlando, it is time to rediscover some hidden gems that often get overlooked.
Do you have a favorite Universal Orlando hidden gem, ride, or attraction? While many people run to Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure or dash to Rip Ride Rocket, there are numerous attractions that need to be rediscovered. During your next visit, maybe skip that long wait for a couple of these hidden gems.
Even though Universal Orlando looks as if an unfortunate spell has been cast over it, those empty walkways will not last forever. When the gates reopen, theme park fans will be excited to return to their happy place. It will definitely be an exciting time to have that “whoa” moment.
Although many Universal fans know both Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios inside and out, it can be fun to head down a new path. No one is saying that you can’t stop for a Butterbeer or try to improve your score on Men in Black. The idea is to rediscover some of the little things that make a visit to Universal Orlando even more exciting.
Here are five Universal Orlando hidden gems that need to be rediscovered.
The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride
While this ride might not be much of an adrenaline rush, it does offer some amazing views. Tucked away in Seussland, this train ride travels all around the area and feels like a little Seuss adventure. Whether you’re watching people eat their lunch or just seeing people walking around, it is a fun diversion.
Since there are two tracks, you can have different experiences when you ride this one. One track features the Sneetches, and the other one showcases the ABCs. Usually, it’s just the luck of the draw which line you get.
Most importantly, the view as the train rides by the lagoon offers some of the best Universal pictures. If your phone isn’t ready, you might need to ride it again.
Curious George Goes to Town Play Area
Tucked in the back of the kids area in Universal Studios, the Curious George Goes to Town play area is entertaining for bigger kids, too. It can be fun to bring a group or a family to the play area so everyone can enjoy Curious George’s antics. (Sometimes, it’s also nice for older kids and adults to rediscover their inner child.) Just make sure you’re kind to the other little kids while you’re having fun in this play area!
Jurassic Discovery Center
If you prefer to stay dry and you don’t have a child in your party to ride Pterandon Flyers, the Jurassic Discovery Center is a great place to explore and learn a little bit about dinosaurs. There are all types of exhibits and interactive displays to take advantage of.
If you are looking for a non-Harry Potter picture, make sure to capture a moment with the gigantic dinosaur skeleton at the Discovery Center. Plus, a dinosaur is born every day. A lucky guest even gets to name that little creature!
Poseidon’s Fury
While not a ride, this live-action show is quite entertaining. Without ruining the experience, there are many moments that can make your heart skip a beat. Just be warned about the ending of Poseidon’s Fury: You might not believe your eyes.
Even if you have experienced this show before, every performance is slightly different thanks to the live actors. Also, why not try to find something you hadn’t seen previously or thought about before? Everything can be new again.
The Mystic Fountain
Have you ever thrown a coin into a fountain and made a wish? The Mystic Fountain is definitely not your typical wishing well.
At certain times of the day, the fountain comes to life. It will answer questions and tell a few jokes. Just keep a little distance, or this feisty fountain might get you a little wet.
These hidden gems at Universal Orlando are just a few of our suggestions. Every visit to the theme park presents a new adventure. Even if you’ve visited the parks hundreds of times, every experience can bring some excitement if you look at it with new eyes.
What are your favorite Universal Orlando hidden gems? What experience are you excited to partake in once the theme park reopens?
