As New York Fashion Week looms, the Project Runway designers must soar to new heights in this week’s challenge, where avant-garde meets architecture.

Project Runway always finds a way to push boundaries and make fashionistas and fashion designers think differently about fashion. In this week’s episode, the remaining designers are faced with a very, very tall challenge. Will these dramatic views cause a dramatic elimination?

According to Bravo, this week’s Project Runway episode, “The Height of Avant Garde Fashion,” features the following:

"“With only one challenge left to make it to New York Fashion Week, the remaining designers must think big to create an avant-garde look that is anything but ordinary. In a fashion first, the runway begins with a season long retrospective, outside and 16 stories high, at New York City’s dramatic, Vessel. The stakes are as high as the runway, because in fashion one day you’re in, and in this challenge, two will be out.”"

For those unfamiliar with Vessel, it is a towering structure in New York City. People climb and explore the piece of art architecture. While art can be inspirational, the fashion designers need to chose their designs wisely.

With two designers leaving the competition right before New York Fashion Week, the pressure is beyond intense. Adding to that scenario, the challenge is avant-garde. It is a double-edged sword that can bring unlikely disaster.

Looking at the remaining designers, the judges continue to love Victoria. Hopefully, she can create something beside a short, asymmetrical, cut-out dress. Then again, when she has done a different look, it seems to have missed the mark.

Everyone seems to be cheering for Brittany. After her Siriano Save, she is the comeback kid. Still, this challenge might be a big leap for her and her design aesthetic.

Nancy is the designer that everyone loves to hate. Last week’s challenge was a huge win for her. But, if she can’t carry that confidence into this week, she could be heading to the workroom.

Marquise might struggle in this challenge. He has created some items that were genius, but sometimes he doesn’t push beyond his comfort zone.

Sergio should be the designer to watch this week. He knows how to make a statement, even if you disagree with that statement. Hopefully, he can create a gown that is picture perfect as it floats through the Vessel.
