Are the Project Runway designers ready to go for the gold? Only the designer to listens to the client and stays true to himself will rise to the challenge.

When your arms are raised in victory, you want to look amazing. In this week’s Project Runway, the remaining designers need to create a victory night celebration look for some of America’s most celebrated athletes. Will these fashion designers listen to their clients or will they only put themselves first?

According to Bravo, this week’s Project Runway episode, “Olympic Game Plan” features the following:

"Designing for a client can be tough, especially when your client is a star athlete with high expectations. In this challenge, designers are paired up with a real athlete who will be competing to be in the 2020 Summer Olympic and Paralympic games. The designers need to make them their dream outfit for a victory night celebration, using all of their specialty skills to make the perfect proportions for their clients’ unique bodies, all while keeping their own point of view amongst a tough client challenge."

This type of challenge is often difficult for the designers. Trying to appease a client while still staying true to their design aesthetic is a difficult balance. Given the parameters of this challenge, the balance is even more difficult.

Still, a theme is re-occurring throughout this Project Runway season. The judges keep emphasizing that a woman needs to feel confident in any look that the designers make. In this challenge, that idea will be even more apparent.

It will be interesting to see which designers listen to their clients and which designers forge their own path. The fashion designer cannot give up complete control nor can the designer force his agenda. The balance needs to be just right.

As the cliché says, there’s no I in team. In this challenge, the winning design shouldn’t be just about the I.
