What’s new in January for Xbox Live Gold members?
Xbox Live Gold members have the opportunity to download four free new games in a brand-new decade. Come and find out what they are!
Xbox Live Gold members are probably coming down from playing plenty of games over the holiday season. From last month’s offerings to what they may have been gifted, I’m sure plenty of time was spent playing a game or two.
Below are the offerings for January, the systems they’re on, and the dates they’re available to download:
- Styx: Shards of Darkness (Xbox One, January 1-31)
- Batman: The Telltale Series – The Complete Season (Episodes 1-5) (Xbox One, January 16-February 15)
- TEKKEN 6 (Xbox 360, Xbox One, January 1-15)
- LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (Xbox 360, Xbox One, January 15-31)
So, this month’s offerings are pretty standard. Nothing super crazy. What’s worth your time?
Styx: Shards of Darkness is probably the best offering of the four games this month. Play as the goblin thief Styx as he attempts to infiltrate the city of Dark Elves. It’s a solo mission or play with a friend for more of an interactive, yelling experience.
Plus Styx really enjoys a fourth-wall break a la Deadpool while you’re playing, which can either make you laugh or roll your eyes.
Batman: The Telltale Series is the whole season of the game. This was an episodic kind of game that I know many people kind of forgot about when new episodes were released. But having all of them at your disposal right from the start makes it a little easier to just power through the story and action.
Next… didn’t we just get a Tekken game a few months ago in this subscription? Well, enjoy Tekken 6, a standard fighting game that improves a bit on its gameplay from its predecessors. It’s an easier pick-up-and-play offering than the other Tekken games, but if you’ve played any of the others, you’ll know that in-depth strategies and mind games are something you shouldn’t forget about.
And lastly, LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy gives you a standard LEGO game if you just want a quick break from serious gaming. This is the one that actually came out for the Nintendo DS, but playing it on console is just as easy and fun. And if you want to escape the current Star Wars landscape and live in the original trilogy, this one is the game for you.
