Microsoft announced the December offerings for its Xbox Live Gold members. Get ready for some massive nostalgia and HD remakes!

It’s always good to be an Xbox Live Gold member around the holiday season. It gives you free games and plenty of time to actually play them.

Below are the offerings for December, the systems they’re on, and the dates they’re available to download:

  • Insane Robots (December 1-31 on Xbox One)
  • Jurassic World Evolution (December 16 to January15 on Xbox One)
  • Toy Story 3 (December 1-15 on Xbox 360 and Xbox One)
  • Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate (December 16-31 on Xbox 360 and Xbox One)

Let’s dive right in and see which of these are worth your time!

Insane Robots was released in 2018 and is a card-battling game with the option for single- or multi-player games. Overall gameplay takes about 15-20 hours, and everything about it is pretty simple. There’s nothing super out of the ordinary for this option.

Jurassic World Evolution is a Jurassic Park sim game, which should get you excited enough to play it. What could possibly go wrong?

Well, if you’ve seen any of the five movies, you have an inkling of what this game might entail. The dinosaurs you see are absolutely amazing. The main problem? Unlocking and improving their genomes is a tedious endeavor, especially when you have to do it 42 times. And there’s not really a way to get around it, so you’re stuck.

Toy Story 3 is exactly what you wanted a cooperative game to be when you were a kid playing games. You have the option of playing through a story mode that highlights some of the plot points of the film and you have Toy Box mode, which is an inventive open world. If you love quests and side quests, you’ll probably spend most of your time playing in the Toy Box.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is an HD remake of the Nintendo 3DS game, which itself is a direct sequel to Lords of Shadow. And if you’re like me, any Castlevania is worthwhile Castlevania, especially when it’s free.

With Christmas just around the corner, it may be a good idea to keep a Live Gold membership in the back of your mind for the gamer in your life.
