3 questions we have after watching the Wonder Woman: 1984 trailer
The trailer for Wonder Woman: 1984 dropped yesterday, and it showed Diana back in action. It also raised a lot of questions about the upcoming film.
Fans of Wonder Woman have waited eagerly for news about the 2017 film’s sequel, and yesterday, we finally got our first full-length look at Wonder Woman: 1984. The official trailer for the film dropped yesterday at CCXP 2019, and it shows Gal Gadot back in action as Diana. Watching her swing from lightning — and getting a glimpse of her new armor — gave fans some seriously high expectations for the sequel.
In fact, judging by the first promotional footage, it looks as though Wonder Woman: 1984 could have even higher stakes than its predecessor.

Still, with everything we’ve learned from the new trailer, there are so many questions this film will need to answer. Here are three, in particular, that we have after watching the first footage.
How is Steve Trevor back?
Steve Trevor was supposed to have died at the end of the previous film, and so, it seems strange that he’s back so casually in this trailer. To make matters weirder, Diana doesn’t seem all that surprised by his sudden appearance. We, on the other hand, have plenty of questions.
For one, is this actually Steve Trevor — or could this be an illusion designed to win Diana over? We don’t know much about the villain(s) in this movie, so it’s possible this Steve Trevor could be their doing. We’ll have to wait to find out if we can actually trust him.
Where is Cheetah?
We know that Pedro Pascal’s Cheetah will be the villain in Wonder Woman: 1984, but we don’t see much of him in this trailer. That’s probably because things are being kept under wraps until we get closer to the film’s 2020 release date, but still, it would be nice to see what the villain is up to. As of right now, we have very little information about him — and about why, exactly, Wonder Woman will be fighting against him.
And that brings us to the biggest question of all…
What is the overarching plot?
Despite the decent length of the trailer, the footage doesn’t really tell us much about what’s going to be happening in Wonder Woman: 1984. Yes, we get plenty of action scenes that show Diana fighting — sometimes in a shopping mall, sometimes in the White House — but what’s her objective in this movie?
Your guess is as good as ours, though we suspect the ambiguity in the trailer is intentional. Again, we’ve got a while before the sequel finally hits theaters; the filmmakers probaby aren’t trying to give too much away right off the bat.
