Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi

Tomi Adeyemi’s Children of Blood and Bone was one of the biggest releases of 2018, so it’s no surprise that fans have been anticipating the novel’s sequel, which was originially slated to come out back in June. With the release date for Children of Virtue and Vengeance moved back to December, however, fans have something to look forward to going into the last month of the year.

The book picks up after Zélie and Amari have brought magic back to Orïsha, but it seems the spell they used went beyond what they intended. Not only have they returned power to the maji who were once stripped of it, but they’ve also given magic to the noble descendants of magic users.

Of course, the nobles and the former maji are at odds with one another after years of unrest — and that’s without taking the tensions amongst the maji themselves into consideration. But if the maji have any hope of surviving the monarchy and putting Amari on the throne, they’ll have to come together. And Zélie is going to have to show them that.

With the stakes higher than before and a war on the horizon, Children of Virtue and Vengeance is sure to deliver when it comes to action and politics. It’ll also test both Zélie  and Amari, meaning we’ll be following these characters on their own personal journeys. The book hits shelves on December 3, and it’s not one readers will want to miss out on — especially if they fell in love with the first installment.
