Batwoman is putting the spotlight back on Alice during this week’s episode, and just about every character seems to be having an emotional crisis.

The most recent episode of Batwoman left viewers on a pretty surprising cliffhanger: that Mouse was playing the role of Jacob for the entirety of “Tell Me the Truth.” And while that means Kate’s secret is still safe and sound from The Crows, it also has fans asking where the actual Jacob is. During this week’s episode of the show, it looks like we’ll find out.

The promo trailer for “A Mad Tea-Party” shows that Alice has taken her father captive — and judging by all the back and forth throughout the preview, the series is shifting its focus back onto Alice and her tragic past. The good news is, this means we’ll be getting more stellar performances from Rachel Skarsten.

The bad news, however, is that every character in this episode seems to be struggling with a whole lot of emotions. (Well, that’s bad news for them and good news for viewers.)

Jacob tearfully tells Alice that he failed her, an admission that’s greeted by his daughter thanking him for turning her into a villain. It’s likely Jacob and Kate are going to have to accept the fact that Beth isn’t coming back sometime during the first season — and this might be the first step toward the realization, at least for Jacob.

It looks like Kate has also figured out that her father is missing, since she tells Alice, “Tell me where dad is.” Unfortunately, it looks like Alice isn’t biting — there are some things she won’t do, even for her dear sister. And her resentful exclamation that she’s waited 11 years to get revenge against her family doesn’t exactly bode well for the rest of the Kanes.

It doesn’t bode well for the Hamiltons either, especially since there’s a shot of Alice showing up in a fancy gown to some event — we assume something involving Hamilton Industries — that Catherine is speaking at. Will Mary soon have more to cope with than just a divorce?

There’s also a quick glimpse of Sophie crying, and we have to wonder whether that has anything to do with her feelings for Kate. Not only did she tell her husband about their past relationship last week, but she also told Julia Pennyworth — who she believed to be Kate — that she would have done things differently given another chance. Poor Sophie has a lot to work through, and it’s unclear whether Kate will still be there for her after all that’s happened.

Fans are in for another emotional roller coaster this week, and it doesn’t look like Batwoman will be letting us relax any time soon.
