Watchmen and the Dr. Manhattan sex toy that swept the nation

This week’s Watchmen brought Laurie Blake to Tulsa, but it also brought her a Dr. Manhattan sex toy — and people can’t stop thinking about the large device.

Watchmen is a shocking kind of show, but nothing shocked audiences more than Laurie Blake’s dildo. Sure, sex and sex toys on HBO are no surprise. But there was something special about Laurie’s that got the attention of fans. A giant blue dildo appeared as Laurie thought back to her ex-boyfriend, Dr. Manhattan — and thus our memories of that naked blue god were reignited.

For many of us, we saw the original Watchmen movie when we were young (probably too young to watch it). That memory, while repressed, came out in full force because, to be quite honest, what do we remember about Dr. Manhattan other than him being completely naked and a translucent blue color?

To be fair, the conversation was focused on the real-life application of such… girth. For those who have watched the episode, the size is roughly the side of a large man’s forearm so… not exactly something that you can use easily. And sure, it was more of a visual gag than anything else, but it is shocking to see Laurie look at it so fondly in that moment and then promptly leave to go and sleep with the young man she brought along with her.

I like that, because this show is on HBO, we are able to have these kinds of jokes take place in the world of Watchmen — because that is something the movie also played with. Then again, it wouldn’t really be the world of Watchmen without gore and sex mixed into it.

So, I wouldn’t recommend going out and buying Laurie’s Dr. Manhattan replica. But maybe we can all look to it and laugh at the memory of Silk Spectre and Dr. Manhattan together, even after all these years. And anyway, did someone manufacture that, or did Laurie have it custom made? I have so many questions.
