10 YA book releases to stay warm and cozy with this November
Sick Kids in Love by Hannah Moskowitz
Hannah Moskowitz has written several highly praised young adult novels, including Break and Teeth. It’s been a few years since Gena/Finn hit shelves, but she’s returning to the world of YA this month with her newest release, Sick Kids in Love. And honestly, it’s exactly the kind of story young people need.
Chronic illness doesn’t see nearly enough representation in media, and the fact that Moskowitz’s new novel tackles the topic is enough reason to pick it up. Sick Kids in Love follows Isabel, who has one rule she needs to stick to no matter what: Dating is off limits. It makes life with rheumatoid arthritis easier — for her and for anyone she’d wind up with.
Of course, Moskowitz wouldn’t dangle that rule in front of our faces if she wasn’t going to have Isabel break it. When Isabel meets a boy who also suffers from chronic illness — one she can hardly even pronounce — she begins to consider breaking her number one rule. After all, he at least knows what it’s like struggle with a chronic illness…
Sick Kids in Love offers readers a romance story that tackles important issues that deserve to be in the limelight and threatens to break our little reader hearts. The novel released on November 5, and it’s definitely one to keep on your radar this month.
