While it might not be the Millennium Falcon, the new United Star Wars themed plane may make flying domestically feel a little out of this galaxy.

Flying today can be a tiresome, tedious journey. Luckily, the new United Star Wars themed plane adds a little fun back into the air. Although Star Wars fans won’t be piloting the plane, these special themed planes are adding a little bit of The Force into those friendly skies. Are you ready to take flight?

United will begin flying these Star Wars themed planes starting in November. The planes are part of the promotion for Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker. According to sources, the planes will be flying routes in the U.S., Canada, Central America, and the Caribbean. Exact flights and routes remain to be seen.

Wrapping planes in particular themes isn’t necessarily a new concept. Several airlines have “themed” planes. There are even Star Wars themed planes from Virgin Atlantic and LATAM Brasil.

This United Star Wars plane is more than just the outer decoration, though. The plane brings the Star Wars universe to the passengers during the flight.

To make that safety video more engaging, there are all types of special Star Wars references. Sure, you might not understand what Chewbacca says, but maybe now you’ll watch that safety video with a little more attention.

Granted, this video is meant for flight safety, but there are a ton of Star Wars clips mixed into it. While there probably won’t be a replay button on the flight, you can watch this video again and see if you see anything new.

The safety video and plane wrapping aren’t the only aspects to flying with The Force. The movie’s soundtrack will be played while onboard. Again, this idea is a small perk, but anything to make that boarding process more bearable is a plus for any traveler.

Probably the most coveted item aboard this Star Wars plane is the themed amenity kit. According to reports, this kit includes “issues, ear plugs, a toothbrush, and products by skincare company Sunday Riley.” Given how many people took souvenirs from Olga’s Cantina, these amenity kits might soon be available on fan sites. Given the limited availability, these special Star Wars items will instantly become collectibles.

Lastly, all passengers on these special planes will receive a commemorative pin. The pins will be available up till the new movie’s release on December 20.

Depending on how many people seek out a flight on this Star Wars themed plane, it will be interesting to see if future collaborations could happen. Of course, the plane wrapping will continue because that concept is relatively straightforward. But, the Star Wars collaboration could take the partnership to the next level.

Thinking ahead to summer movies, what other franchises could work with this type of flying experience? Would a Black Panther plane take people to Wakanda? Why wouldn’t Disney create a plane experience that starts the Disney magic once you leave home?

The potential for themed flights is great. The biggest concern with this type of activation is the business traveler who just wants to get from one place to another. They may not appreciate all the extras.

Then again, plane travel can be stressful. From crowded planes to cramped seating, everyone seems to have tension. Anything that can bring back a little fun to airplane travel should be applauded.

As everyone waits for the opportunity to fly with the force on the United Star Wars plane, it will be interesting to see how fans respond to this experience. Maybe there will be a travel app for that.
