We all know that Riverdale has no problem putting their good-looking “teenagers” and adults on display. And in ‘Dog Day Afternoon’ they did just that.

If there is one thing we can count on when it comes to Riverdale, it is soapy drama. And that includes having the different men of the series on display for all to see.

In the third episode of the season, ‘Dog Day Afternoon,’ we watched as Archie and Mad Dog made plans to create a community-type center at the gym. And while that may be very altruistic of the pair, it requires upgrades to the facility and they need money to make this all happen.

Considering it would take $40,000 to do the necessary upgrades to the gym, what does our favorite Riverdale crew decide to do? Host a car wash of course. And what does this mean? A whole bunch of shirtless guys with their abs on display.

Nothing screams high school drama quite like seeing a bunch of shirtless guys washing cars and popping their pecs. And the fact that they weren’t even the only abs on display just acts as another reminder of just how unique and soapy Riverdale really is.

Beyond our high school boys putting on a show, we also got to see Edgar Evernever (Chad Michael Murray) with his shirt open, showing off his own well-defined abs. Seriously, for an episode that was supposed to be all about putting an end to The Farm, also known as the cult run by Edgar, it sure seemed like an ab-fest was happening.

Honestly, I am very rarely surprised by what I see on Riverdale, and while I was not surprised to see all of the abs on display in this episode, it just felt like this odd effort to remind us all that the show is as much a sudsy teen drama as it is a mystery-noir series.

And no I’m not complaining, but rather a little confused, because I am still not sure why all those abs needed to be on display to begin with.
