Verizon is giving Disney+ to subscribers for free for a year

The release date for Disney+ is growing nearer, and Verizon is partnering with the streaming service to offer subscribers a sweet deal.

The Walt Disney Company’s new streaming service arrives in just a few weeks, and there’s plenty to look forward to from day one. Not only did Disney reveal a strikingly large lineup of movies and television series that will be available from the launch date, but it has a number of original series, many of them set in the Star Wars world and Marvel Cinematic Universe, heading its way as well — and you know we can’t wait to watch all of them.

And on Tuesday, Verizon and Disney announced that they’ll be teaming up to offer Verizon customers a free year of Disney+ after it launches in the United States on November 12. Subscribers who have the unlimited data plan can sign up for the service without adding any extra costs to their subscription. Essentially, they can see what they think of Disney+ before actually purchasing the platform after the year is up.

“Giving Verizon customers an unprecedented offer and access to Disney+ on the platform of their choice is yet another example of our commitment to provide the best premium content available through key partnerships on behalf of our customers,” explained Verizon chief, Hans Vestberg.

While the company hasn’t revealed the specific process to sign up for this deal just yet, interested subscribers can input their email addresses on Verizon’s website to receive further information about enrolling.

On Disney’s end, this partnership seems like a promising way to ensure the streaming service’s success — particularly when it comes to numbers — from day one. And according to Deadline, Netflix’s stock dropped 3 percent after the news broke on Tuesday morning. Considering that Netflix’s share has gone down by 15 percent this year, it’s probably safe to say that Disney is doing a decent job of keeping up with its competition.
