With the arrival of Disney’s new streaming service & its recent slate reveal at the D23 Expo, what are the shows and movies to watch out for?

We know you don’t need another streaming service. It’s ironic that, in the push for a la carte programming, we’ve gone right back into the world of bundling and the need for more services just to get the programming we want. And Disney isn’t making our job any easier (or our wallets any heavier).

When the House of Mouse announced plans to get into the streaming game, it seemed like a great way for fans to have everything Disney contained in one area. And the corporation has indeed confirmed that on launch day, all of its animated content will be available to watch (though they’ve been frustratingly vague on how much live-action stuff will be included). A streaming platform also seemed like the most obvious way for the company to keep its movies and television shows firmly under its own control. The cynical saw it as a corporation keeping its dollars in one place, and that’s a view that’s certainly not changing.

But during their star-studded presentation during this year’s D23 Expo, which offered a first real look at what Disney+ will have to offer — both at launch and within the first few months of its existence — the impossible happened: It made this non-believer (i.e. me) think, “Hey, maybe I can spare a few dollars.”

Make no mistake, Disney+ knows they need to give people a compelling reason to spend more money on programming — and they came to slay! There’s something on Disney+ to please everybody, from classic animated features to unique and original programming. Here are just 11 of the movies and shows they announced that should convince you to crack down and get that Disney+ subscription.
