The Good Place season 4 episode 5 preview: How to keep a Neighborhood running
The Good Place splits up our core team this week, with Michael and Jason headed to the Bad Place and Eleanor and Tahani keeping things running.
The Good Place is breaking up the band — at least, for an episode or two.
Last week’s episode ended with Michael and Jason heading off to the Bad Place to rescue our Janet, while Eleanor and Tahani were left to run the Neighborhood in their absence.
Here is the official synopsis for this week’s episode, “Employee of the Bearimy,” courtesy of NBC:
"“Michael and Jason hatch a plan. Eleanor learns firsthand the difficulties of running the neighborhood.”"
The first part of the synopsis is good! Because we definitely need Michael and Jason to have more of a plan than “go to the Bad Place and punch Shawn in the mouth.”
Jason will blend in well with his lovable idiocy, but I feel like there’s probably a warrant out for Michael and he’s going to be spotted. Unless… he can use Vicky in the Michael suit to his advantage and pretend to be Vicky. That’s not a half-bad idea.
That or a molotov cocktail. Always a molotov cocktail.
Meanwhile, how are Eleanor and Tahani supposed to run a Neighborhood without any otherworldly beings on their side? Michael’s off to the Bad Place, Janet’s a marble, and the only Janet they have in custody is a Bad Janet they shouldn’t trust.
So… do they turn to Derek? He’s also been rebooted a million times and is more than he ever could be.
Or they can always spin it as “technical difficulties.” What is Brent going to do when Janet’s not around to hear his career advice or ask for Perrier? It might hurt their test subjects if there’s a new “Janet” showing up who is Derek and his words are randomly replaced with “Derek.”
One thing is for sure: Eleanor and Tahani are in for more than they bargained for. They’re about to see just how hard it is running a Neighborhood.
