HBO’s highly anticipated Watchmen series premieres tonight. Here’s how you can tune in!
Fans of the Watchmen comics may have been skeptical when HBO first announced it would adapting them into a series — after all, look how much the 2009 film was criticized — but the show has become one of the most highly anticipated of the fall season. And much of that has to do with Damon Lindelof‘s push to keep the story relevant to modern-day issues — and the TV series’ ability to dive more deeply into storylines and themes that may have been cut from the movie for the sake of time.
And as trailers and news about HBO’s Watchmen have begun surfacing, fans have become increasingly excited to see how Lindelof’s version of the story will play out. With talent like Regina King at the forefront, there’s bound to be plenty of action and drama — and of course, discussion of morality, because can you really have a story about vigilantes without that?
While we don’t know specifics about the plot going into the first episode, early reviews for the series premiere of Watchmen have been mostly positive — and even the ones that point out the show’s flaws have trouble denying that the story is unlike anything they’ve seen before. Not only is HBO’s Watchmen meant to be jarringly different than the movie, but it supposedly takes a unique angle when it comes to the comics and superhero content in general. And that’s exactly why we’re so excited to watch it.
