Titans “Bruce Wayne” preview: The drama progresses this week
Looks like this week’s Titans episode is keeping the drama in the BatFam. “Bruce Wayne” might focus on the titular character, but there are a lot of dilemmas afoot.
DC Universe Titans consistently manages to fill its weekly cliffhanger quota. Sure, the constant stress of seeing one of the Robins in peril, Starfire getting kidnapped, and everything else in between has been resolved. With the last few moments of “Conner” leaving the titular character of yester-week inundated, the team has their work cut out for them this week on “Bruce Wayne.”
Cycles are critical for the Titans. When one problem gets resolved, another arises. Just like the Titans — and their villains, apparently — don’t work alone, neither do their quandaries. Though it isn’t an immediate trifecta, Deathstroke is still skulking around with mostly his ego maimed (thanks to Kory). Then there’s the whole Superboy and Superdog issue and hand. Mercy shot Conner, then Cadmus dognapped Krypto.
Moments after Conner super-lept to save Jason Todd last week, we’d say stabilizing Conner is the team’s first priority this week. With Batman on the mind and the title, every fan is trying to decode how Bruce Wayne fits into the episode and the Titans.
Perhaps Batman would be a visiting entity this week who helps the team save Conner. After all, Mercy shot Conner with a Kryptonite bullet, so the stakes aren’t in Kon-El’s favor. There are more than a couple of critical factors that weigh into this week’s drama:
- Do the Titans know that Conner was struck from a Kryptonite bullet? If they don’t can they figure it out?
- Is Cadmus still a threat this week? And will they be able to fend of Lex’s lackeys while working through Conner’s prognosis?
- Will the Titans (and potentially Batsy) be able to save Conner Kent before the Kryptonite leaves him powerless for too long and he meets an unfortunate demise?
Obviously, we know that Conner is a series regular and that he’s in a lot of the promo and trailers this season. The likelihood of the Conner dying this soon is, well, unlikely. But that won’t stop the writers from toying with our emotions, seeing as they already enjoy doing that, as evidenced by all the suspense and heartache in the last season and a half.
Even after fighting off an interdimensional demon and finding out that Kory is a Tamaran, it’s still fair to assume this week’s episode will play out like a medical mystery for the newest hero in town. Nonetheless, we hope the Titans can save Superboy and help him hide out from Lex Luther.
