The first day of New York Comic-Con had some big moments, but it was nothing in comparison to the show’s second day.

The first day of any convention serves as a warm up, allowing attendees and guests to fully get into the swing of things (and to learn their way around the huge convention center and show floor). But with day two over and done with, New York Comic-Con is fully underway — and there were some pretty huge announcements, trailer drops, and premieres in comparison to the show’s first day.

Sadly, Ryan Reynolds didn’t show up to introduce any of these big reveals, so the first day still has us beat on that count. But Friday’s lineup brought with it some long-awaited trailers, exciting pilot episodes, and even the cover reveal of a certain prequel novel we’ve all been waiting to learn more about…

Here are five of the biggest things that happened on the second day of NYCC this year.

The Hunger Games prequel novel got a cover, name, and release date.

Suzanne Collins hasn’t released a book since The Hunger Games trilogy concluded back in in 2010, so it was a bit of a shock when Scholastic announced that the author would be writing another novel set in the same universe. Of course, fans were excited to see what Collins would come up with, especially upon learning that the book would be a prequel set 64 years before the events of the original trilogy.

And while we don’t have all the details just yet, Scholastic surprised us by revealing the book’s title, cover, and release date at NYCC yesterday. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will hit shelves on May 19 next year, and its cover will fit right in with those of the other three.

A new trailer and the season 4 premiere of My Hero Academia dropped.

In the anime world, My Hero Academia is kind of a big deal — something fans proved when they packed into Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater yesterday to catch the fourth season premiere of the series a week early. Not only did fans get to see the beginnings of the upcoming season’s plot, but they also were treated to a brand new trailer — meaning there was some never-before-seen footage in there as well.

The voice actors from the English dub also sat down to talk about their roles in the upcoming season, and it looks like fans will be seeing a number of new faces — along with a lot more of some familiar ones.

HBO’s Watchmen premiered at the show.

HBO’s highly anticipated Watchmen series comes out later this month, but congoers were able to see the pilot episode a little bit early. During the show’s panel on Friday afternoon, the pilot episode aired — and the first episode was met with a mostly positive reception. This one is highly anticipated — and with a star-studded cast and dedicated crew it’s difficult to believe the first look at the season would be anything but good.

The stars of the series, along with David Lindelof, also sat down to share their thoughts on the show. It’s not every day fans get to see so many talented people in one place, so the panel for Watchmen alone was a fairly exciting part of day two’s itinerary.

The first trailer for Marvel’s Runaways dropped.

Marvel’s Runaways is another series that had a packed panel on Friday night, and those attending were in for a treat: Marvel finally dropped its first trailer for the show’s third season, Judging by the first look alone, fans seem to be in for a wild ride. And the trailer wasn’t the only exciting thing to come out of the Marvel’s Runaways panel.

In addition to the show’s first trailer, the panel also presented fans with a bunch of new details about the upcoming season, including who the season’s Big Bad is and whether a Cloak and Dagger crossover is actually happening.
