7 iconic Ron Weasley moments to rewatch for Rupert Grint’s birthday
Ron and Hermione destroy Hufflepuff’s cup
During the Battle of Hogwarts, Ron and Hermione are tasked with destroying Hufflepuff’s cup, the Horcrux that the trio steals from Gringotts Wizarding Bank in the previous movie. But in the midst of everything going on, Hermione can’t figure out how to get rid of it. And surprisingly, it’s Ron who suggests the idea that was likely immediately obvious to anyone in the Harry Potter fandom from the get go: using a Basilisk fang from the Chamber of Secrets.
Not only is this another win for Ron during Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, but it’s also hilarious to watch Hermione’s reaction to Ron’s idea. She seems astounded that he came up with something that could actually work, and we get it — most people do doubt Ron, but thankfully he consistently seems to surprise them (even more so in the books than the films).
And anyone who ships Ron and Hermione will also want to rewatch this particular scene for the obvious reason of what comes after: the kiss we waited six books and seven films for. Once Hermione stabs the Horcrux and destroys it, the two of them finally seal the deal on their feelings for one another. And honestly, it was about time!
