7 iconic Ron Weasley moments to rewatch for Rupert Grint’s birthday
Ron’s love-potion dilemma
OK, we hate that Ron Weasley got poisoned during Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. After all, he’s one of our favorite characters and we almost lost him to Draco Malfoy’s schemes. But even we have to admit that Ron’s reason for being dragged to Slughorn’s chambers is pretty hilarious.
After a run-in with a box of love-potion-infused chocolates originally intended for Harry, Ron winds up sitting in the Gryffindor dormitory dreaming about Romilda Vane — a girl he’s never even spoken to, mind you. And when Harry walks in on this scene, his reaction is priceless. The concern for his friend quickly turns to amusement, just as the audience becomes amused by Ron’s ridiculous sentiments.
And Rupert nails this scene, giving his character the goofiest expressions to match the wild things he’s saying. He also does a great job at going back and forth between anger over Harry’s dismissal of his feelings and excitement at the prospect of actually meeting Romilda. And even if he does get get poisoned after Slughorn cures him, there is one good thing that comes from this whole sequence: the end of his relationship with Lav-Lav.
All in all, this is one of the lighter and more comical parts of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. And we definitely need that, especially since we’re going to wind up watching the whole thing anyway.
