Weasley is our king

How could we list Ron Weasley’s greatest moments without including the time he was king of the Quidditch pitch? “Weasley is our king” is a chant that becomes well known throughout Hogwarts during the trio’s sixth year, and it’s one that fans of the character have often used to show their support.

And what makes Ron’s first big win so special is the fact that his Quidditch career didn’t exactly start out on a high note. Ron’s nerves tend to get in the way of his athleticism when he’s in public, and Quidditch matches are very, very public. In fact, “Weasley is our king” began as a Slytherin chant — their way of thanking Ron for essentially handing them the win against Gryffindor.

But when Ron finally regains his confidence, the “Weasley is our king” chant becomes a Gryffindor statement. They use it to celebrate their win, and it’s kind of adorable to see Ron’s realization that he’s doing well and the other students are actually cheering for him.

Of course, we have other selfish reasons for wanting to watch this part of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, too. We love a good Quidditch match, and this one is the perfect example of why.
