Swamp Thing season 1 episode 8 live stream: Watch online
Convention season is in full bloom, and so is the conflict on DC Universe’s Swamp Thing. Hopefully, Swampy can stay safe this week.
San Diego Comic-Con is in full swing right now. Whether you’ve found a way to duplicate yourself so you can attend every panel or you’ve taken to the freebie events in the area, you can’t lose sight of what’s really important: Swamp Thing episode eight — unless of course, you’re waiting in line for Andy Bean’s autograph at the It: Chapter 2 panel, so you can get the best of three worlds (i.e. Alec Holland and It). Banter aside, “Long Walk Home” is a serious trust exercise, and we’re terrified for Swamp Thing’s sake.
We know that Swamp Thing is a nearly seven-foot-tall Elemental who has about a dozen abilities, but we’re still scared for his safety. We blame Andy Bean, Derek Mears, and Crystal Reed (and the rest of the cast and crew) for making us get so emotionally invested in this character — especially with the events happening this week.
According to Warner Bros. Television Division’s synopsis of episode eight, Avery and Swampy are officially meeting, and the comc accuracy is about to ensue:
"“After a harrowing journey of survival through the swamp, Avery comes face to face with Swamp Thing, who rescues the injured man. After recovering, Avery vows to return with Woodrue and help find a cure. But can they be trusted? Meanwhile, Abby is confronted by Nathan Ellery and the Conclave at the CDC in Atlanta. Realizing that Swamp Thing is in danger, she returns to Marais – only to find she’s too late. Lastly, Matt learns a secret about Avery Sunderland.”"
Being the caring hero that Swamp Thing is, his compassion could get himself captured. Taking a page on a comic book moment the show has been foreshadowing for a few episodes, Avery’s new health could land Swampy in a lab. And we all know that Avery doesn’t have Alec’s intentions in mind. He doesn’t have anyone’s intentions in mind, except for his own.
Thankfully, Abby is here to rescue Swampy, and we’re living for their supportive relationship — even if Swampy keeps isolating himself just to brood alone… in the woods. Considering the Conclave’s interjection in Abby’s travel plans, she might have an archnemesis subplot of her own. That would be really interesting if we had the promise of more than one season of Swamp Thing. And no, we will never not be bitter about this series’ cancellation.
However, what secret did Matt learn about Avery Sunderland? Perhaps he found out Avery tainted the swamp with accelerant, causing the green plague. Or maybe Matt unearthed something even more sinister about Avery.
