Young Justice: Outsiders episode 18 live stream: Watch online

A Project Rutabaga focused episode is on the horizon, but you shouldn’t count on a lethal Veggie-Tales-themed Young Justice: Outsiders episode.

New beginnings were the theme last week, but Young Justice: Outsiders “Early Warning” will focus on a threat and vegetable. Rutabagas to be specific, and something tells us we’ll leave the episode with even more questions and a growing number of fan theories.

Projects on Young Justice don’t constitute your typical Saturday morning shelf-building agendas. In a world of superheroes, aliens, and New Gods, nothing is typical. Unlike the latest DIY project on your to-do list, episode 18 centers around Project Rutabaga, which was name-dropped in the first half of this season.

Warner Bros. Television Division’s official synopsis doesn’t give us many more details on the episode beyond “Project Rutabaga” and it’s relevant danger:

"Project Rutabaga threatens to create an international crisis."

Last we check, rutabagas weren’t dangerous. Unless Darkseid and his horde have genetically modified explosive veggies, this project is another one of the villains’ infamous coded missions. Seeing as Project Rutabaga was already referenced in an earlier episode, we might start to see some answers regarding the increasing questions.

Yep, back in “Evolution,” Klarion mentioned Project Rutabaga after Young Justice took him down. It’s been a while since the series has touched on the ominous project, but at least we know from the synopsis that it’s dangerous.

The proximity between the veggie-titled project and the Lord of Chaos suggest that we’ll see Klarion once more. The only question is: Will he be alone when the Outsiders square off against him again?

The mere construction of the Outsiders team foreshadows the official formation of a contrasting team. Villains need teams of their own, and this entire season has been priming us for Darkseid’s sinister horde of villains (which so far comprises the Light, the Furies, Gretchen Goode, and a bunch of brainwashed metahumans).

It might be a while before we see another official villain team, but something tells us this week will start to ease us toward that big reveal. After all, the title of the episode is giving us an “Early Warning” about something.
