Sahana Srinivasan

If you are looking for a woman under 30 who is truly an inspiration, then Sahana Srinivasan is it. Not only is she the host of Netflix’s Brainchild, a show that helps to explain the world around us in a way that is relatable, but she is also a filmmaker, writer, and actress. And her mission is to help end the stereotypes that surround women who are part of STEM.

As part of her mission to make STEM a more diverse field, Srinivasan, who is Indian American, wants to change the way people talk about scientists, mathematicians, and other fields of study. She even pointed out that often when talking about these researchers, people use he/him pronouns rather than something gender neutral.

According to Sahana Srinivasan, “We need to change that rhetoric and show that women are just as capable, passionate, and intelligent when it comes to math, science, and engineering.” And we agree with her wholeheartedly, as we think the conversation does need to change.

On top of her desire to change the way people look at STEM, Srinivasan also tries to bring her heritage and background into her work, in an effort to make it more mainstream. This includes her Hindu upbringing and other aspects of her culture.

When it comes to empowering women, the TV host is definitely someone to follow, as she is clearly striving to make a difference in the world.
