Greta Thunberg
When it comes to empowering women, we can’t forget to include Greta Thunberg. Here is a 16-year-old who has stood before world leaders and made pleas to save the planet by reducing our carbon footprint. The Swedish teenager is a true climate activist, and the people she has spoken to include presidents, CEOs, and other people in power who may be able to help her make a difference.
Thunberg is not afraid to speak up, and this includes telling leaders that, “you have an enormous responsibility. And let’s be honest: This is a responsibility that most of you have failed to take.”
Not many people are willing to stand before world leaders and tell them they have failed, and yet here is this 16-year-old who has no problem telling it like it is. And she has done it with facts and a plan of action that includes an approach to sustainability.
At the same time, while she was more than willing to be harsh with leaders who she believes have failed to take action when it came to the crowds outside of the summit where she spoke, it was a different story. Here, she was able to be eloquent and inspiring, rallying them to her cause. And if nothing else, it is this ability to be harsh when needed and inspirational immediately thereafter that makes Greta Thunberg a force to be reckoned with.
As far as empowering women, Thunberg is definitely working hard to make a change and in this case, it feels like she is ready to step up when even world leaders are not doing enough.
