Swamp Thing episode 3 preview: Horror and danger on the horizon

Swamp Thing episode 3 will add more drama to the suspenseful series, and many more threats.

We’re cherishing every remaining moment we have left with Swamp Thing. Sure, there are only eight episodes left, but we’re still going to nurture our fandom. Although there still aren’t any episode-specific trailers for Swamp Thing (which could be explained by the unfortunate cancellation of the series), we do have some thoughts about the upcoming third episode of the DC Universe original.

Last week, Alec Holland struggled with his new form as a mythical elemental being. Or at least Swamp Thing struggled with his growing existential crisis because he thinks he’s Alec Holland. Yeah, it’s complicated. Nonetheless, Swampy used his abilities to save Susie and meet Abby Arcane, just with a new look.

As the behind-the-scenes clip shows us the making of Swamp Thing and all the horrifying content within the series, we can expect a lot more psychological horror and gruesome moments this week and beyond. The impending macabre moments are expected and very much welcomed. However, there will need tension and threats on the horizon, especially for the leading protagonist, Abby.

Given that Abby wasn’t as startled by Swamp Thing after Susie reassured her that he’s a benevolent being who goes by the name of Alec, we can expect that Abby will continue her investigative ventures. She has more pressing issues of attempting to find a cure for the botanical virus that’s killing the town. However, we know that Abby’s humanitarianism, empathy, and scientific curiosity will lead her to try and find Alec again. This just means we might (hopefully) see Abby officially meet Swamp Thing, but it also puts her at greater risk.

Still, we’re much more concerned with the Sunderlands and Jason Woodrue. We can assume that Jason hasn’t officially transmuted into his villainous alter ego. Even without his Floronic Man namesake or the affiliated abilities, Jason is still a threat to the town and anyone investigating the contagion. That means Abby could be in trouble.

Though Abby shares an inherent connection with the Green and thus Alec/Swamp Thing, we know that she isn’t a damsel in distress. We’re scared for her, but we’re also ready to see her kick butt and continue to use her scientific prowess to both track down the Guardian of the Green and save Marais.
