Swamp Thing episode 2 preview: Traveling deeper into the swamp
Swamp Thing episode two is almost here, and we’re ready to see more of the swamp, the conflict, and learn more about our favorite protagonists.
After the premiere episode of Swamp Thing, we learned our lesson: Will be watching every future episode with the lights on. Seriously, the swamp is scary, and all the botanical John Carpenter-esque imagery doesn’t help our inevitable nightmares.
Still, we’re thankful for all the horror in the series. The lack of trailers for the second episode only amplifies the show’s ominous vibe, but we have some ideas on what to expect this week.
Whether you’re a Swamp Thing expert or you’ve recently started to tiptoe into the fandom, the first episode solidified the series as an independent entity where anyone can enjoy the creepy and captivating lore. You know: Regardless of have many relevant comic issues you’ve read or not.
Like the first episode kickstarts the on-screen storyline, it also introduces the main characters. And we’re completely enraptured by Abby Arcane (portrayed by Crystal Reed), Alec Holland (portrayed by Andy Bean), and Swamp Thing (portrayed by Derek Mears).
While there isn’t a trailer specifically for the second episode, this only adds fuel to our fan theories. Seriously, what is DC Universe trying to hide? We’re already well aware of the horror and the magic in the show, thanks to the first episode’s vague Madame Xanadu reference.
Based on the ending scene where Alec Holland officially transforms into Swamp Thing — er, when Swampy adsorbs Alec’s memories— we can expect that episode two will lead us deeper into the swamp. However, we’re hoping it will continue to outline the Green and Susie’s implied connections with the Green.
We might not be chloro-based superheroes, but we sense that the second episode will expand on Abby’s narrative as she peruses the biological contaminants, which could yield some answers about her past.
We’re well aware of the tense confrontation in the bar scene last week. Seeing as connections are a vital theme for the show and Swamp Thing mythos, Abby’s discoveries this will likely be supplemented with additional tragic flashbacks.
The show connects Abby and Alec, Alec with the Guardian of the Green, and of course, humanity and botany are kindred cohorts. So why wouldn’t the back and the present continue to run parallel of each other?
Swamp Thing debuts new episodes on Fridays on DC Universe.
